A sleek conference room table, surrounded by empty chairs, sets the scene for Ixigo's latest strategic shift. The Indian travel platform, founded in 2007, is now focusing on corporate travel. This move responds to the current trends in the travel industry, where leisure travel faces challenges, but business travel shows resilience.

Aloke Bajpai, Co-founder and CEO of Ixigo, stated, "The changing dynamics of work and the increasing importance of corporate travel present an opportunity for us to expand our offerings and ensure we remain relevant to our users."

Leisure travel, once a major revenue driver, is contracting due to economic uncertainties and shifting consumer preferences. In contrast, business travel is rebounding. The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) reported that corporate travel is projected to recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2024.

Ixigo plans to leverage its technology to offer tailored solutions for businesses, including real-time travel management. "Our investment in technology will allow us to provide a seamless experience for corporate travellers," Bajpai remarked.

The shift towards remote work has altered corporate travel dynamics. Companies are revising travel policies, seeking cost-effective solutions. John N. B. Kauffman from Deloitte noted, "Many organisations are revising their travel policies to align with new operational realities; this is where platforms like Ixigo can play a vital role in improving travel efficiency while maximising value."

Ixigo is also forming partnerships with airlines, hotels, and transportation providers to create comprehensive travel packages. This approach aims to boost customer loyalty through cohesive offerings.

The corporate travel market is competitive, with companies like Travel Leaders Group and CWT providing comprehensive solutions. Ixigo targets the millennial and Gen Z workforce by investing in user-friendly mobile applications.

Challenges remain, such as global market volatility and potential disruptions. Christine W. Lister from Phocuswright stated, "Travel platforms must remain vigilant and responsive to external factors influencing travel demand; adaptability will be key in navigating the future of corporate travel."

Ixigo's pivot to corporate travel reflects industry trends and highlights the need for platforms to adapt to changing consumer behaviors. This move aims to stabilize Ixigo's revenue and capitalize on corporate travel's growth potential.
