In 2022, 70% of hotel operators invested heavily in technology to boost service delivery, according to the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute. This shift is driven by rising competition and evolving guest expectations, making operational efficiency crucial.

Property management systems (PMS) play a pivotal role by centralizing operations, freeing staff to engage with guests. Robert T. Smith, Vice President of Technology at Hilton Worldwide, states, 'The modern PMS must be agile and adaptable to the changing demands of guests.'

Cloud-based solutions are popular, reducing hardware needs and simplifying updates. Deloitte projects a 40% growth in cloud-based PMS over the next five years due to their flexibility and cost benefits.

Mobile technology is gaining traction. Mobile check-ins and digital room keys appeal to tech-savvy travelers. A 2023 Hospitality Technology survey found 68% of guests prefer mobile check-in, enhancing convenience and reducing front desk congestion.

Guest engagement platforms gather data to reveal guest preferences. Jennifer L. Tan, Director of Guest Engagement at Marriott International, notes, 'Data is the new currency in hospitality.'

Data security remains a concern. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency reported a 22% rise in cyber incidents in hospitality in 2022, urging robust cybersecurity measures.

Sustainability is influencing hotel management. The Global Sustainable Tourism Council found that 83% of travelers consider sustainability when booking. Technology helps hotels monitor and reduce carbon footprints.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will further transform hotel management. McKinsey & Company predicts AI could boost hospitality revenue by 10% to 15% by 2025.

As AI solutions proliferate, staff must acquire new skills. Training programs on technology integration are crucial.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated these trends, requiring rapid adaptation. With fluctuating occupancy and evolving guest expectations, agility is essential. Hotels embracing technology will thrive in a competitive market.
