A statue of Napoléon Bonaparte overlooks Portoferraio's marina, where the sea breeze mingles with the aroma of freshly baked schiaccia. Elba Island, a short ferry ride from Tuscany, hosted Napoléon during his exile in 1814. Its landscapes blend history and nature, attracting luxury travelers. With 147 km of coastline, the island offers golden beaches, rocky cliffs, and azure waters.

Hotel Hermitage, at Mount Capanne's base, provides direct access to Biodola's sandy beaches. General Manager Stefano Fabbri highlights the hotel's sustainable refurbishment using local materials like Carrara marble. Sea-view rooms start at €550 during peak season, including private beach access and sailing lessons.

On the eastern coast, Hotel Airone, part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, exemplifies modern elegance. Each of its 78 rooms features custom Italian furnishings. Bartender Luca Rossi crafts cocktails with local herbs, such as the Elba Mojito. Rates can reach €650 per night in high season, including gourmet breakfasts.

Elba's culinary scene merges traditional recipes with contemporary flair. Ristorante La Terrazza in Capoliveri offers dishes like spaghetti with lobster. Chef Luca Carli draws inspiration from the island's fishing heritage, creating tasting menus that can reach €100 per person.

Exploring Elba’s villages is essential. Marciana Marina's colorful houses line the waterfront, with artisan shops selling ceramics and wines. Festivals feature traditional dishes like tortelli with wild boar. The annual Elba Wine Festival in May showcases local wines and live music.

Elba Island offers outdoor activities against stunning vistas. Hiking trails lead to panoramic views, with Monte Capanne rising to 1,019 meters. The trail to the summit takes about three hours, offering views over the Tuscan Archipelago.

Diving enthusiasts can explore the island's waters, with dive schools offering excursions to shipwrecks and marine reserves. The Formiche di Grosseto reserve is a diving hotspot. Dive instructor Marco Ricci emphasizes eco-friendly practices.

Elba’s accessibility contributes to its appeal. Daily ferries from Piombino take about an hour to reach the island. The upgraded ferry terminal in Piombino, opened in 2022, accommodates more visitors. Elba is shedding its historical image, presenting itself as a serene luxury destination.

Elba Island invites exploration, promising an experience steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty.
